Now that you are a member of the Austin Area League of Women Voters, we invite you to indicate how you wish to contribute to the League’s mission of Making Democracy Work and empower citizens to shape better communities. We’d like to know more about your personal interests and how you want to get involved.

  • SURVEY INFORMATION
  • Now that we know more about your background, choose which LWV-AA area you want to jump into. Try to pick just one – unless you have a lot of time to offer and really want to roll up your sleeves and submerge yourself!

  • VOTERS SERVICE
  • This exciting group is on the frontlines of voter engagement. It includes our volunteer deputy registrars (VDRs) and others who promote voter registration and work on getting people to the polls; conducts candidate forums; develops voter education campaigns and materials; and most importantly, produces our revered Voters Guide.

  • PROGRAMS
  • This is the group that researches and develops issue positions; advocates on behalf of those positions; observes local governmental activities; and prepares programs and events to educate and engage members and the general public.

  • COMMUNITY RELATIONS
  • This group raises funds through direct appeals and the staging of an annual fundraising dinner. It also assists in collaborations with other like-minded organizations in pursuit of our goals.

  • ORGANIZATION
  • This group is the glue that holds the League’s efforts together and also informs members and the public about our actions and activities. It includes membership management and recruitment; communications—including our monthly online newsletter, our email Action Alerts, social media, and website; contact management; and daily office management and staffing.

  • CAPITOL CORPS
  • This group is the LWV-Texas Advocacy Support. Being in the State Capital, the Austin League also offers the footsoldiers for the State League’s advocacy before the state legislature. LWV-TX Board members provide you with testimony.
