To register to vote you must be:

• a United States citizen,
• 18 years or older on Election Day (you can register up to two months before your 18th birthday),
• a resident of the county where the application is submitted,

You must not:

• be finally convicted of a felony, or if so, have completed the terms of the jail sentence, probation or parole, and
• been declared by a court to be mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

There are several ways to register to vote in the county where you live.

• Fill out this voter registration application, then print, sign, and mail it to your county voter registration office.
• Have a voter registration application mailed to you  English  Spanish.
• Pick up and complete a voter registration application at libraries, post offices, driver’s licenses offices, high schools or you county Voter Registrars office.
• Register to vote with a Volunteer Deputy Registrar(VDR) at a voter registration event.
• Register in person at your county Voter Registrars office.

Find your County Election Office

If you moved or changed your name and are currently registered to vote in Texas you may:

• update your voter registration online,
• Update your voter registration when you update your driver's license 
• Correct your information on the back of your voter registration card and mail it back to your county's Voter Registrar, or
• Fill out a new voter registration application

Confirm you are registered to vote:

• Check online at Am I Registered?, or
• Contact your county's voter registrar:

• Williamson County email voterregistration@wilco.org or call (512) 943-1630
• All other counties

After you apply to register to vote, a voter registration certificate will be mailed to you within 30 days.

• This is your proof that you are a registered voter! Keep it.
•  If you do not receive your certificate, please contact your counties' voter registrar office:
• Travis County email Tax_Voters@TravisCountyTx.gov, or call 512-854-9473
• Williamson County email VoterRegistration@wilco.org, or call  512-943-1630
• All other counties
• You should automatically receive a new color-coded certificate every two years in odd-numbered years.
• If you move, you must update your voter registration to receive your new voter registration certificate at your new address.
• The League of Women Voters recommends that you bring your voter registration certificate with you to vote in case of any issues at the polling location about your registration However, it is not required to vote.

The information circled on the sample voter registration certificate, tells you your voting precinct number and which races you can vote on:

• The first circle is your voting precinct. In many counties you must vote at the polling locations located within your precinct.  However, both Travis County and Williamson County have county wide polling which allow voters to vote at any polling location.
• The information in the second circle can be used to figure out which elections and races you can vote in. All Texas voters can vote for some races, while other races are specific to the precinct

If you moved from another county in Texas

• You can still vote in your home county, but you will have to go home to vote or submit an application for a ballot by mail (ABBM) to your home county elections department. Learn more about Voting By Mail.
• Vote by mail applications need to be at your county election office least 11 days before each election.
• You will be mailed a ballot to your current address that must be returned by Election Day.

or

• You can submit a new Voter Registration Application to the Travis County Elections Office.
• You can fill and download a voter registration application, but you must print it out, sign it and mail it; or you can get a form from any public library or other government office, fill it out and mail it.
• Your application must be received no later than 30 days before the election.

If you moved from another state

• If you want to vote in Texas, you will need to fill out a Voter Registration Application, either by filling and downloading voter registration application, sign it and mail it to the Travis County Elections Office, or by getting a form from any public library or government office, filling it out and mailing it.
• Your application must be received no later than 30 days before the election.
• You can also choose to stay registered in your home state and vote by mail. Check your state’s qualifications, deadlines and instructions for applying for an application for a ballot by mail.

Where to vote if you are registered in Travis County

• If you are registered in Travis County, you can vote at any local polling site both during early voting and on Election Day.
• It’s important to change your address when you move because your residence determines which races you will be voting in.
