Volunteer Opportunities

Immediate Need! Volunteers are needed to address and sign postcards to voters who often skip primary elections, encouraging them to build a new habit this March: vote in the primary and "pick a winner." Hand-addressed and signed postcards are more likely to catch a voter’s attention and curiosity.

LWV Launches New Initiative to Mobilize 8.5 Million Voters Through Advocacy, Civic Education, and Engagement

Travis County Commissioner Ann Howard was first sworn in as the County Commissioner for Precinct 3 on January 1, 2021 and re-elected in 2024. Her precinct includes the entirety of the University of Texas main and west campus areas, and also from downtown Austin to Briarcliff, out west on SH 71 and Jonestown on SH 1431, including neighborhoods of Westlake, Rollingwood, Circle C and Lakeway. Howard is the former executive director of ECHO, the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition, is a graduate of UT Law and LBJ Schools, and a former attorney on the US Senate Judiciary Committee. She is passionate about affordable housing and smart development, giving special attention to preserving our water resources.

Singh’s path to public service started as a bilingual teacher and getting involved in the PTA at Oak Hill Elementary. As the PTA president, she brought together native Spanish-speaking families and English-speaking families to build intentional outreach to create an inclusive environment. This resulted in monthly Spanish-only meetings, a new cultural liaison executive board position, and direct access to the principal — so all families could participate. The Oak Hill Elementary PTA became the first school in AISD to receive a PTA National School of Excellence designation.
When asked about the most important issues facing Austin, Siegel noted that “we are in a time of crisis in our democracy” with the federal government withholding tens of millions of dollars and the state government taking hundreds of millions of dollars in recapture and tying our hands with revenue caps. He stated, “I hope that right now Austin can be an example of a strong local government, modeling our values of having an equitable, just, and sustainable government. I seek to build trust in local government.”
