"The thing about democracy, beloveds, is that it can never be taken for granted. You have to fight for it."
On April 2, the League of Women Voters Austin Area will Raise Hell for Democracy at our annual fundraiser! Join us at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar for a lively evening, starting with a reception at the Highball and followed by a screening of Raise Hell: The Life and Times of Molly Ivins, a 2019 documentary that tells the inspiring and witty story of Texas' own political firebrand in a way that lets the the legendary journalist's "voice and presence come through as if she were still here" (The Hollywood Reporter). Tickets include two drinks, a meal, popcorn, and the opportunity to support democracy while having a great time! Proceeds from this event will fuel the work we do to ensure that voters in Austin and Travis County have the information they need to participate fully in our democracy.
Buy a ticket, make a donation, or become a sponsor and know that your attendance and generosity will register and inform more voters right here in the Austin area. Won't you join us in our mission of Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy?
