Empowering Voters

Proof of citizenship data
Three ways to support democracy this week

🗳️ Read the numbers and take actionThe results of a survey by the University of Maryland Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement shows Who Lacks Documentary Proof of Citizenship? in Texas.

⚖️ Learn how "The state of Texas used faulty data that disproportionately flagged naturalized citizens for removal from voter rolls with little double checking, a new federal lawsuit alleges." in the Austin American Statesman article, Texas accused of targeting its own citizens in flawed voter purge.

✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 Be inspired by the "Women [who] turned out in even higher numbers in 2024 than in the 2022 midterms. Notably, in both elections, women turned out in higher numbers than men." in the LWVUS report, Women Voters By the Numbers (2024).

Get involved in engaging your community -- let's power democracy together!

180 Degrees Student Project
Join us in thanking UT students for their help
Carol Limaye, LWVAA Budget Chair, shared the goal of the 180 Degree student project: to organize LWVAA's accounting system to highlight specific programs and their associated costs. In that way, the Board would have a better idea of the amount of funding they have spent and how much they have available. In addition, we can highlight the cost of programs compared to the result -- for example, the low cost of the First Vote! program for the number of students registered.

Our challenge? Implementing the recommendations -- and that's where you come in! If you have QuickBooks skills and the time to support this project, contact Carol Limaye.

Empower voters and support democracy at your events!
