    • Kozmetsky Center at St. Edward's University - Screening of the documentary The Librarians at the Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane. The film takes a deep dive into the role of public libraries and the 1st Amendment.

It's a great way to meet other new and prospective members and to hear from some of our veteran volunteers. Everyone is invited, so bring a friend!
    • Austin Public Library - Banned Books Trivia at the Twin Oaks Branch
    • Banned Books Week - Let Freedom Read Day. LWVAA encourages members and supporters to check out the Banned Book Kits curated by the Austin Public Library and share them with the children, teens, and adults in their lives. Help defend books from censorship and to stand up for the library staff, educators, writers, publishers, and booksellers who make them available. Show us how you’re taking action on social media by using the hashtags #LetFreedomReadDay and #BannedBooksWeek!

📅  March 8: TRIVIACRACY 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Central Machine Works

On International Women’s Day, we’ll gather for TRIVIACRACY -- our FIRST civics trivia fundraiser fueling the League’s Voters Guide, forums, and outreach across Central Texas.

We’re focused on securing sponsors between now and December 31 so that come January, when tickets and table sales open, we can keep the event affordable for everyone.

Whether you work for a company, run your own business, or know someone who does, this is a chance to:
  • Stand up for voters
  • Put your brand in front of a civically engaged Austin audience
  • Help make democracy accessible for all
