I attended several hours of this afternoon's Commissioner's Court Session online. The main topic of discussion was and is, whether or not to increase the tax base to provide more funds for the Central Health District. There were many testifying for the Tax increase and just as many opposing it.
Former Senator Barrientos spoke and opposed the tax increase. He states that the District should use money from the reserve fund to complete making provisions for new clinics and services, especially an increase in provisions of MAP Cards, and complete an audit for program accountability before getting more money.
The Health District Board was presenting when I left the meeting. They are giving their report on services provided and why they cannot do more without additional funds.
