The Voters Guide for the November 8, 2016 General Election is now available electronically on this webpage as a .pdf document. It will be published in the October 23rd Austin American-Statesman. The first day of early voting is Monday, October 24.
The Voters Guide covers five counties… Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson.
Additional information can be accessed online at www.VOTE411.org including candidate videos and races not in the printed version of the Voters Guide. VOTE411 allows users to enter an address and review all races specific to that address. You can make selections and print a copy of your sample ballot.
The English and Spanish versions of the Voters Guide have been updated to include the previous omissions noted below.
Note: We have been made aware that there are a couple of omissions in the attached files. Specifically, Travis County Commissioner for Precinct 3 (page 37) is missing all candidate information and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 2 (page 13-14) is missing two candidates; Lawrence “Larry” Meyers (Dem) and Adam King Blackwell Reposa (Green). The missing information is on Vote411.org, described above, and will be added to our online file shortly. We apologize for these omissions and are working with the Austin American-Statesman to rectify the situation.
A statement similar to the one below (but in Spanish) is in the Spanish Guide:
Each LWV organizational level contributes to the Voters Guide. LWV-US handles the Presidential race; LWV-TX addresses statewide candidates; and LWV-Austin does everything else in the Guide. When LWV-US provided the Presidential responses, it prohibited translation. We sought an alternative and found the language included. The Presidential candidate information in the Spanish Austin Guide comes courtesy of Voter’s Edge California, a partnership between the League of Women Voters of California Education Fund and Maplight. We believed that a better solution than repeating the information in English in the Spanish Austin Guide.
